Pairing with a smartphone #

To pair the µFR Nano Online reader with a smartphone and use it as its NFC feature, you need to enable the BLE HID mode on the µFR Nano Online device.

The BLE HID mode turns the µFR Nano Online reader into the Bluetooth-connected Human Interface Device.

To set the reader with BLE HID mode enabled to read the tag content, you need to enable the linear read option and define the starting memory address and data length.

For the WiFi-connected device, follow the next steps:

  • Login to the device configuration page (devices IP for Wi-FI-connected device, or default 192.168.4.1 for the offline device)
  • Turn on the Master mode
  • Click the Save and Restart menu button (the top LEDs of the device should turn to magenta and blue)
  • After the page is reloaded, click the BLE HID Linear Read mode option to enable it
  • Click the Save and Restart menu button again (the reader LEDs should turn to flash yellow*)
  • Now, look for the device ONxxxxxx in your host machine listed networks and connect it
  • Navigate to 192.168.4.1 to open the offline configuration panel for the device
  • Go to the Linear Read Setting option and define the parameters for the desired behavior when reading the tags (i.e. read the tag content or the UID only, the tag memory address which is a starting point for reading the content and the data length to be read)
  • Save and restart.

*Notice: At this point, your configuration page becomes unavailable since the enabled BLE HID mode will terminate the WiFI connection, as well as the SSID connection with your host machine. To access the settings again, you need to reconnect the host machine to the SSID of the reader, or you can use the µFR Online Configurator desktop tool with the USB-connected reader. To exit the BLE HID mode, you can edit the configuration manually or just turn on the Slave Mode.

The steps for turning on the µFR Nano Online without a WiFi connection are presented in the video demonstration below:

The final step is pairing the reader with your Android or iOS device.
