Virtual Secure Cards, PKI and µFR Zero Readers

Virtual Secure Cards, PKI, and µFR Zero Readers

Driving Innovation in Secure Access Control

We’ve developed PKI access control systems that are compatible with any mobile device platform and our physical PKI cards. In our solution, the readers operate in a combined mode, where they can sometimes function as card emulators. This addresses situations where vendors are unable to use mobile phones as HCE (Host Card Emulation) devices.

Our development team started with a vision to develop an advanced access control system utilizing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for secure access to computers, servers, and even physical spaces such as doors. Several years ago, we developed a Java Applet for smartcards, primarily for digital signatures, laying the foundation for our current innovations. As the demand for more flexible and scalable security solutions grew, we evolved our approach, moving beyond physical smartcards and creating virtual secure cards that integrate with our next generation of NFC RFID development tools, µFR Zero NFC RFID readers.

Our mission has always been to provide a solution that not only meets today’s stringent security standards but also adapts to future demands. We envisioned a system that brings together the strength of cryptographic technology and the simplicity of virtual access, and the result is a product suite that is truly unique on the market.

UniqueID Software App – The First Step in a New Era

A pivotal moment in our development journey was the release of the UniqueID Software App, which enabled NFC-enabled mobile devices to be used for identification in time attendance and access control systems. Released about two years ago, this app was a crucial first step in our transition to virtual card technology. By broadcasting a static Unique ID via NFC or BLE protocols, the app ensures seamless interaction with our NFC/RFID hardware, enabling mobile-based access control and identity management.

Key Features:

  • NFC and BLE Protocol Support: For devices without NFC or HCE, BLE broadcasts ensure compatibility across various platforms.
  • Problem-Solving Innovation: The app addresses the issue of random mobile IDs by generating a static, identifiable Unique ID.
  • Optimized for Digital Logic Hardware: Works seamlessly with Digital Logic’s NFC and BLE devices, integrating with time attendance and access control systems.

Virtual Secure Cards and Secure CardMax – The Future of Access Control

Secure Card is our virtual smartcard solution, designed to replace traditional physical cards. It offers a streamlined, digital method for secure access and authentication without the need for physical tokens. By integrating PKI, Secure Card ensures encrypted communication, digital signing, and secure data transfers across multiple platforms, from corporate systems to sensitive governmental applications.

Implementation:

  • Virtual cards are easily deployed within existing systems, allowing secure access to computers, networks, and servers through the µFR Zero NFC readers.
  • Ideal for industries where secure identity verification and access management are critical, such as corporate environments, IT infrastructures, and secure facilities.

Secure CardMax

secure max cardFor organizations requiring enhanced protection, we developed Secure CardMax. It builds upon the core features of Secure Card by adding stronger encryption protocols, multi-factor authentication, and support for more complex operations, such as secure financial transactions or the management of classified information.

Implementation:

  • Secure CardMax is optimized for industries like finance, defense, and critical infrastructure, where data security and system access need the highest level of protection.
  • With its higher encryption standards, Secure CardMax supports secure communications, encrypted file exchanges, and advanced authentication protocols for critical tasks.

µFR Zero NFC RFID Readers – Enabling Seamless Integration

The µFR Zero NFC RFID readers are at the heart of our solution, providing secure interaction between users and systems. These readers are fully compatible with both Secure Card and Secure CardMax, allowing users to authenticate securely without needing a physical card.

Key Features:

  • End-to-End Security: Every transaction between the reader and system is protected using PKI, ensuring encrypted communication and verifiable authentication.
  • Convenience: Virtual smartcards offer flexible deployment, whether for remote work authentication, server access, or physical space entry.
  • Scalability: Designed for large-scale implementation, µFR Zero readers work seamlessly in industries with dynamic and growing security needs.

When using Secure Cards with our µFR Zero readers, the functionality is as follows:

  • For iOS devices, the reader operates as an NFC card emulator, while for Android, it works as an NFC reader.
  • The reader sends a random challenge to the phone, which signs it with ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) through the phone’s secure element.
  • The phone then sends both the public key and the signature back to the reader. The reader then verifies the signature and searches for the key in the whitelist before granting access.

It’s that simple! 😊
